History of Medieval and Modern Law

The course traces the evolution of European legal systems from the Early Middle Ages to the age of codifications: ius commune, glossators and commentators, the rise of national states and nineteenth-century codes. Students develop skills in analysing historical legal sources and understanding the historical roots of contemporary legal categories.
